Are you ready to eliminate stress, free up time, enjoy life and thrive at work? This all falls into place when we live harmoniously, which is a lot simpler than you may think. Harmonious Living happens when we are able to calibrate what I like to call The Inner Compass.

Many times, we are using all of our organic & cosmic resources (time, energy, attention, thought, efforts, determination, critical thinking, sub-conscious mind) on one area of life, and neglecting others. That’s why when you start paying attention to your Inner Compass, amazing things start to happen; you start seeing and understanding the patterns and tendencies that are not serving you. This allows you to kick’em to the curb, recalibrate, and refocus.
There are three main directions (axes) in our lives: Work, Enjoyment and Self-care. When we figure out which areas are being bombarded and neglected, we can adjust as necessary until we are Navigating Blissfully. Let’s be realistic though: most women tend to focus on the Work axe (this includes obligations inside and outside of the home, and what we do out of a sense of “duty”, as well as something we may love, like our online business), leaving a lot to be desired in the Enjoyment and Self-care axes. Unfortunately, the latter two are considered to be almost optional. But, Enjoyment and Self-care are crucial to being happy, and happiness means you have achieved your perfect balance in your life.

Here are 10 simple things that work like a charm for Navigating Blissfully through your life:
1. Stop, Drop and Roll. Remember that phrase from elementary school about what to do if you ever caught on fire? For some reason, it stuck with me! When you are stressed out and giving too much to one area of your life, and neglecting others, you operate in a frantic state. So, stop right in your tracks, drop, and roll to put out that fire. Once you do this, ask yourself “What do I want more of in my life? What would it take for me to feel more joy?” Take a moment to write some of the answers down…you may surprised at how simple your wants really are.
2. Commit to making Enjoyment and Self-care priorities. Once you know what you want more of in your life, commit to incorporating it! Having fun and taking care of yourself (on the inside and outside) are vital to living harmoniously. So, dance to your favorite songs, get all dolled up to go out to dinner, eat fresh fruits and veggies and skip the junk food… Treat yourself with importance, respect and love and you’ll spread that to those around you. It’s like securing your oxygen mask before you put a child’s on if ever there is an emergency during a flight. It feels uncomfortable, but it makes sense.
3. Saying “no” opens up space for “yes”. Family and personal time are just as important as so-called obligations. Learn to say no to the stuff that you don’t love and start doing the things that make you happy! This makes everything so much lighter and easier and allows things to flow better, reducing stress.
4. Remember that one dream/passion/hobby/idea that used to give you butterflies and make you giddy? Welcome it back into your life and schedule time for it. This will help get you out of your “I only have time for my obligations” trance and get you excited about getting out of bed in the morning.
5. Put Me Time on the books. Look at your monthly planner, and schedule times where you can do anything you want! If you want to have a spa day, get a massage or attend an event, call ahead to schedule an appointment or RSVP to make sure it’s all set and ready. Schedule a time to schedule Me Time if you think you might forget.
6. Get up earlier! I know this may sound like cruel and unusual punishment, especially if you work an office job and/or have kids, but you will be so happy you did! Getting out of bed before the day “officially” starts gives you time to do yoga, enjoy your coffee, journal, meditate, prepare your day, etc., free of distractions.
7. Show up fully, wherever you go. I bet you’re a multi-tasking maven who can cook while talking on the phone while hanging out with the kids. Though this seems efficient, especially if you feel like you’re being pulled in several directions, the fact that you’re not 100% focused on any one person or activity makes what your doing less potent. If you spend 30 quality minutes really being fully present with your partner, it will feel a lot better than spending 2 hours in his presence while you check email, work on that project or watch a show he’s not into. Quality trumps quantity any day.
8. Take a deep breath, and delegate. You may think that the only way to get things done is to do them yourself, but this is so not true! There is no shame in asking for help and assigning tasks to your significant other or your children. Create a handy-dandy schedule with household chores and hang it on the fridge. Hold everyone accountable for doing their share, and start feeling like time is on your side.
9. Leave work at work, and set time limits for things you don’t love doing. Have you heard of Parkinson’s Law? It says, “Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.” Whether you work outside or inside the home, set time limits for completing certain tasks, and when time is up, time is up, and you’ll know you’re free to move onto something else (hopefully more fun!)
10. Say bye-bye to guilt and obligation. If you want to be the best possible you, the one that your friends, family and job most benefit from, then stop feeling guilty about enjoying yourself! Sometimes all you want to do is…nothing! Ain’t no shame in that! Don’t let that voice of “these are the things you should be doing” take over. Acknowledge they are popping up, and remind yourself that you need to recharge and relax in order to function and feel happy.

Do any of these small yet powerful changes resonate with you? Stick to them for just two weeks, and notice how your life opens up and begins to feel more harmonious!

Affirmations are an amazing tool to have when you are ready to make effective, strong, positive change in your life. They can help transform and squash negative thought patterns, while getting us on the road toward a big goal or achievement. Also, they are constant reminders of how we want to feel, behave, be. I like to think they help my brain work in technicolor!!

If you have a BIG goal in mind (anything from weight-loss, to improving your self-esteem), affirmations can really really help get you there. Constructing a solid affirmation is mega important! Here are some quick tips to help you get started on yours:

1.) Open your heart and pour it on into your affirmation! What would it actually *feel* like to reach this goal, or see this change occur in your life?! Probably pretty effing amazing, right? Seriously. So, close your eyes, and imagine it happening…feel the excitement bubble in your stomach, and let the giddiness fill your chest. Work from that spot when you write it.

2.) Try starting it with “I am…” or “My”. Using these words tap into your self-conscious to plant a seed of change. These words also keep the affirmation very personal so that you “feel” it in your guts and heart when you say it!

3.) Be as specific as possible. Clarify your goal to make it as vivid and tangible as possible, and create a phrase that really just does it for you, and can get you worked up and ready to fly! Feel free to add specific dollar amounts, or pounds, inches, dates, etc.

4.) Present tense only, please. When you do this, you are treating the goal as if it already exists/has come to be, instead of pushing it off into the future. ”I am at my ideal weight, and I love how I look!” is much more powerful than, “I will be at my ideal weight and will love how I look.” See what I’m sayin’?

5.) Keep it poz’, as in, “positive”. Make sure your phrase states something you *are* doing/being/achieving/experiencing, and not something you are not. ”I am energetic and happy” instead of “I am not lazy, and I am not sad.” No brainer, right?

You can also use ones written by Affirmation Maven Priestesses like Florence Shinn if you find one that resonates. One of my faves (courtesy of this fine woman) that I repeat 9 times every single a.m.:
“I AM NOW DILUGED WITH THE HAPPINESS THAT WAS PLANNED FOR ME IN THE BEGINNING.”
It really gets to me on a deep level, and I swear I see neon loveliness with sprinkles when I say it!

I’d llllove to read some of your favorite or spankin’ new affirmations! Send’em over! And if you want feedback on yours, do let me know!

Ok, so you didn’t accomplish what you set out to do over the weekend. That to-do list of yours pointed to “so much shizz for my goal is gawn git DONE!!!”, but much like the magic 8 ball tends to be, it was wrong. Things didn’t get crossed off, written, created, started.

Ssssshhhhh…… no excuses necessary. It is what it is. You spent time doing other stuff that was beneficial in other areas of life. Relaxing, sleeping and taking care of yourself all fall under that! In fact, you can’t expect to be productive, creative, prolific if you’re tired, deflated, uninspired. Right? (I need you to agree here…)

I am definitely not helping you to make excuses, or “enabling” you. It goes against my self-realization religion!! I’m simply saying that being angry with or judging yourself will not help to push you forward, get to the next step/chapter/phase/project/achievement.. “It’s never too late to start heading in the right direction.” Seriously! It’s Seth Godin who said it….SETH effing GODIN! The Everything Guru.

If you didn’t start yesterday, today is a perfectly fine day to start (read that in a sweet and comforting your grandma’s voice).

So, close them pretty peepers of yours, take a deeeeep breath, relax your shoulders (they’re tensed up to your ears right now!!), plant your feet firmly on the ground and get centered and rooted. Now, open your eyes, tell Fear and Self-Judgement “thanks for stopping by dudes, but I DON’T NEED YOU!!!!!!” And get crackin’! Rinse & repeat as necessary to get to a good starting point and send that badittude running.

It’s Monday, the kick-off of the week. But, kicking off your next big or small action can happen whenever you want it to! BOOM! Easy peasy.

P.S. My mom had a plaque like the one above hanging in the kitchen during my childhood. Noooow I get it and deeply appreciate it. High five Ma!

What keeps you from accomplishing the stuff on your to-do list? How do you stop self-sabotage and get back on your track??

Throughout my life, my sister and I have developed our own sort of “lingo”…kooky/patchworky phrases and word combinations that really captured stuff we wanted to express in very precise ways in order to avoid certain sacred things becoming trite, or losing their dreaminess impact. One of these is “the feeling”, as in, “you HAVE to listen to this song…it gives me ‘the feeling’…” or, “it’s really cool…it doesn’t give me ‘the feeling’, but i like it a lot.” Sometimes it’s like I’m on a perpetual hunt for “the feeling”…that dreamy, floaty yumminess I want my life to be sprinkled with. Recently, it dawned on me that if I’m “out there” hunting for the feeling, I’m wasting my effing time! It’s really “in here” and it’s in my frick frack power to stimulate, feed, love and call on it! I can carefully construct and evoke situations/things/activities, etc. that do that for me. I ain’t gotta sit around waiting!

So, since the cosmos and the Universe are always right there with a wink to let you know you’re on track, I found this delish burning question from the truly and divinely BAD ASS Danielle Laporte upon entering my email this fine morn’: ”How do I want it all to feel?” She has provided a dazzling list of different areas of life that I’m excited to bite into with “the feeling”:

I want my day to feel like the Amelie soundtrack.
I want kissing to feel like dance-flying in the sky with a twirling electric purple dress.
I want my next success to feel like that delicious, satisfying exhaustion I felt after swimming all day when I was little.
I want my body to feel like light beams that stretch, flow and support like the silk aerial dancers use.
I want smiling to feel like glitter bombs.
I want my friendships to feel like cold white wine, campfires, circle journals, deep secrets, midnight bike rides, collages and mod podge.
I want my nervous system to feel like breathing underwater. And a beautiful, transparent crystal.
I want my gigs to feel like tap-dancing, playing a neon electric violin, riding a mint green Vespa in Rome, an outdoor NYC summer concert at night in.
I want my neighborhood to feel like chinese lanterns hanging on trees.
I want my integrity to feel like the full moon.
I want my money-making to feel like the moment after it rains when it’s warm outside.
I want my word to feel like a cozy wood cabin in an enchanted forest.
I want my laughter to feel like a unicorn prancing on a heart rainbow.
I want the end of the day to feel like the last day of school.
I want being of service to feel like astral projection.
I want my philanthropy to feel like dancing.
I want my challenges to feel like fuel/foder/sparks/kindle.
I want my love to feel like the song “Quisiera ser alcohol” by Caifanes.

I cordially invite you to think about different areas of your life and how you want them to feel… What gives you “the feeling”??

This year, I’m celebrating my birthday. I know, it’s what loads of people do…but, I’ve spent the past three decades bobbing, weaving and dodging all festivities having to do with my birthday. In fact, when people would say stuff like, “whose birthday is coming uuuuuup? huuuuuh?!” in a nice and excited way, it would actually make me cringe and feel extreme dread (oh man, a year older and little to show for it). Extreme anxiety (am I living up to the expectations of my age?!). Extreme sadness (wow, I’m a total loser! i haven’t accomplished anything!). Extreme “poor me”ness (see, _____ doesn’t cares that it’s my birthday, so why should I?!). It all stemmed from FEAR. Of disappointing, of being disappointed.

This year, the proverbial buck stops here. Basta with all that negatron crapola. I have committed to no longer living in FEAR and to live in a space of LOVE. Embracing my birthday is part of that.

This year, I’m actually celebrating my birthday. I will allow myself to be in the spotlight, and just express my gratitude for those who want to put me there. I will focus on everything I HAVE accomplished in the past year, and all the cool-ass things on the horizon. I will be grateful for everything I am, everyone I’ve met, and everything I have learned over the past year. I will be thankful for all the delightful things in my life, and will be grateful for the motivation, passion, love, fire under my arse and desire to keep my eyes on the prize and work toward it. From this day on, I solemnly swear to honor, respect and enjoy my birthday and leave Cap’n Birthday Negatron eating my dust.

Today, I will be sprinkling some extra pretty on myself and my surroundings:
~Outfit with extra pizzazz–CHECK!
~”Fiesta” red lipstick–CHECK!
~My favorite songs on queue, and heck, even a mariachi bday song–CHECK!
~Accept birthday wishes with joy and appreciation–CHECK!
~Yummy food & drink & celebration–CHECKETY CHECK CHECK!!

My name is Eyenie. Today is my birthday. I’m a year older, and that’s ok.

A good pal and fellow coach recommended I do a vision board. I had heard of them and always sort of had the idea on my mental desktop, but I found the idea overwhelming. I’m the guy who for years wouldn’t buy anything at a record store or book store because all of the options really stressed me out. Well, now that 2012 is my HELLZ NO TO FEAR!! year, I am saying YES TO LOVE!, and have taken the plunge. Folks, I have my very own board and the infinite possibilities did not make me skerrrd!!!

Now, I’m reminded of all the delights I want in my life, and having my vision board at my desk helps me to get my manifesting on every single live-long day. And, it’s sort of a work-in-progress. I add things, remove, adjust, etc. as needed. It has inspired me so much that, heck, I even made a video about it! Take a look-see… Happy manifesting!!!!

Everything we do is either driven by LOVE or FEAR. I recently heard this, and, Holy Bananas! I’d never thought of it that way, but it’s freaking true! Think about it. The way we react to things, set aspirations, treat ourselves, treat others…the way we live, period.

So, this year, my main homework assignment is to be aware of how I approach new tasks and react to challenges in my life in order to proceed with love. I ain’t about to be a mamby pamby and live driven by fear. No way.

I invite you to join me on this quest to be love-driven. What…are you chicken?!

May the next 365 days be filled with magical delights, wild success, positive energy, shining health, love and sprinkles!!!!
